Laputa is one of the worst hit towns in the Irrawaddy delta.

Survivors of the cyclone make their way to Myaung Mya City from Laputa where the refugee camps are full.

Survivors are seeking refuge in religious institutions with little protection from the elements.

The damage from Cyclone Nargis and the storm surges will take years to recover from.

Many of the survivors are children, walking with no shoes and only what they have left on their backs.

These nine young men were the only people from their families to survive the cyclone.

People have sought refuge in Laputa but there is no room there now.

Supply of rice to refugees is sporadic and resources are few.

The winds and tidal surges destroyed many buildings, including concrete structures and roofing.

Clean water and the risk of waterborne disease remain urgent concerns.
