Message from Archbishop Weisgerber
Justice, peace, solidarity, the right to have a voice in decisions that affect our lives and communities – these values are fundamental both to our Catholic faith and to the work of Development and Peace. Over the last year, we have seen these beliefs brought to life through UPLINK, the D&P partner in tsunami-devastated Aceh, Indonesia, working with communities to rebuild homes and livelihoods. We have also seen our Catholic values lived out in the strong call of Development and Peace for responsible behavior by Canadian mining companies in the Global South. These are but two examples that exemplify the vision and spirit of Development and Peace.
On behalf of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops, I encourage you to reflect and to act on your faith by giving generously to Share Lent 2008. We give, because we believe.
