On January 9, 2009, a Caritas Jerusalem mobile clinic was destroyed by an Israeli F-16 fighter jet. The clinic provided emergency medical assistance to inhabitants of Gaza. This event demonstrates the urgency of both humanitarian and political action in the region – to help the victims of the conflict and achieve peace.
- We have so far sent $ 150,000 to Caritas Jerusalem to provide medical services, medical supplies, food, blankets and sanitation services to the poorest in Gaza.
- We have written letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper on January 14, 2009 and January 30, 2009, asking that Canada act immediately to promote peace and facilitate humanitarian aid in the region.
