Over 200,000 Canadians signed the colorful card that asked for
the creation of an ombudsman office. Development and Peace
sent $11.3 million to its partners in the South to support the
implementation of development projects. The organization

Annual report 2006-2007
In this the first year of our mining
campaign, 153,000 Canadians from
coast to coast signed action letters
asking the Canadian Government
to refuse any federal support to
mining companies that do not
respect international human rights
and environmental norms. Development and Peace provided emergency
aid to 19 countries in the wake of natural catastrophes

asked the Canadian Government to guarantee access to safe drinking
water for all, both nationally and internationally, for today and for future
generations. Development and Peace continued
to help the world’s poorest people
to live a better,more equitable and
dignified life. |

Annual report 2004-2005
Funds totalling $11.8 million were
provided this past year for 309 initiatives
in 28 countries to improve
living conditions for the poor and
help social justice organizations
maximize their impact. The organization
also disbursed $6.6 million for emergencies. Water, Life
before Profit! campaign centered on
the theme that water is a sacred
gift, a human right, a shared inheritance
and a collective responsibility. |
