Throughout the Global South thousands of people are saying "I believe" and setting their brothers, sisters, friends and country folk free from the shackles of oppression and poverty. In communities, movements and organizations, women and men are working to feed themselves, use their land sustainably, protect their rights and their children and the environment of their homes. |

And the truly wonderful thing is that they are not doing it alone. They are doing it with thousands of Canadians who also say "I believe" and give a sacrificial gift of themselves, of their time and of their money through the Share Lent collection of Development and Peace. It is this act of believing in the people of the South that they proclaim. The gift in return is one of freedom; freedom from the death of poverty, from the death of illiteracy, from the death of economic oppression. |

Today you are asked to believe enough to give in a way that will make a significant difference to the people of the Global South. Give out of your excess, out of your leisure. Give more than you first thought you would. Believe enough to give more because every time we say "I believe… I give," we restore life to our brothers and sisters. |
