Lent is a time of preparation, a time of conversion. It is also a conversation, a sincere dialogue with ourselves through fasting, a dialogue with God through prayer, and a dialogue with our sisters and brothers throughout the world, especially in countries of the Global South, through sharing.
The liturgical resources and theological tools of our 2018 Share Lent campaign can support you in undertaking these various conversations, to connect faith with action, and to reach our sisters and brothers in all four corners of the planet.
In his message for Easter, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Archbishop of Manila and President of Caritas Internationalis, invites us to “roll away the stones that are blocking our own hearts and imagination” so that everyone can ” share the journey with each other, ” especially those he considers the most vulnerable, namely migrants. He reminds us that the fears that paralyze understanding and compassion must be dissipated and calls on us to take actions that are simple and sincere.
Together, let us build a world of peace and justice, strengthen our bonds of fellowship, build bridges, and destroy the walls that separate us, so as to enter, hand in hand, in the joy and exaltation of Easter.
On behalf of the entire Development and Peace – Caritas Canada team, we would like to thank you for your support and for having shared the entire season of Lent with us. Happy Easter!
