Next Sunday, April 2 (the fifth Sunday of Lent), parishioners across Canada will be celebrating Solidarity Sunday. This day is part of Development and Peace – Caritas Canada’s annual Share Lent campaign, whose theme this year is Women at the heart of change!
To mark this occasion, the televised mass Le Jour du Seigneur will be dedicated to Development and Peace and its 50th anniversary.
Celebrated at 10:00 a.m. (Eastern Daylight Time) at the Oratoire St-Joseph de Québec, the mass will be broadcast all across the country on the French-language television network Radio-Canada. The televised mass is being presented in conjunction with the Committee for the Broadcasting of Liturgical Celebrations of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.
The celebration of the Eucharist will be presided by father Martin Laliberté, Superior General of the Foreign Mission Society. At several moments during the event, there will be a call to act in solidarity with our sisters and brothers in the Global South, toward building an equal and just world.
On Sunday – April 2, Solidarity Sunday, a special collection will take place in most parishes in Canada in support of Development and Peace’s work for global peace and justice. This collection is a call for solidarity and sharing with our sisters and brothers in the Global South.
There are many ways to contribute to Development and Peace’s Women at the heart of change campaign! Here’s how:
