Nearly 200 philatelists gathered in Montreal and Quebec City on Saturday March 29 to participate in the stamp sale organized since 1992 by Development and Peace. A total of $2,727.70 was raised in Montreal on that day, bringing to $27,323.90 the amount collected since the beginning of the year. For their part, collectors from the metropolitan Quebec City region remitted $4,001.50 to Development and Peace for stamps, postcards, coins and small religious items. Although the doors to the sale open at 9:00 a.m., there are always 30 or so eager philatelists who arrive early to put everything on their side as they look to obtain that missing piece for their collection.

The sums raised will be used to fund development projects in Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. In fact, Development and Peace has been working for over 45 years to change the lives of the most vulnerable people of the Global South. Don’t miss the next stamp sale, which will take place on Saturday May 10, from 9 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Polybel de Beloeil secondary school (725 rue de Lévis). After that, sales will begin again in September.

If you would like to donate stamps  to Development and Peace, organize a stamp-gathering initiative in your community, find out about scheduled activities for collectors, or learn more about the activity itself, please feel free to contact the national headquarters of Development and Peace in Montreal, at 514-257-8711, or the eastern Quebec regional office, at 418- 683-9901. You can also call toll free at 1-888-234-8533.

Once again, thanks to all the volunteer philatelists. We are so grateful for your support!
