This year, we will welcome three solidarity visitors from three countries. They will be present in Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Raquel Soto from Colombia
Raquel Soto, a peasant woman (campesina), was born in the mountains of Rio Verde (eastern Antioquia) 31 years ago. Her family was displaced, and she lost her father because of the armed conflict in Colombia. Since 2008, she has been a member of the communications program of the Peasant Association of Antioquia – ACA, which is supported by Development and Peace ― Caritas Canada. She is currently a facilitator at their documentary filmmaking school and a social and environmental leader in her community. She is passionate about photography and documentary filmmaking.
Raquel will be touring Quebec and New Brunswick from March 17 to 30, 2023.

Elvin Hernández from Honduras
Elvin works as a human rights investigator with Equipo de Reflexión, Investigación y Comunicación (ERIC, Reflection, Research and Communication Team), one of our Honduran partners.
ERIC, a Jesuit organization, stands with poor and dispossessed Hondurans in their struggle for land and territory; documents the impact of government policies; and investigates human rights violations. They accompany people who are criminalized for defending their land and territory and help them access justice.
Unable to get his visa in time, Elvin will be with us virtually for a few events.

Ramy Chan from Cambodia
Ramy has been for the past 4 years the Executive Director of YRDP, Ramy has been executive director of Youth Resource Development Program (YRDP), one of our Cambodian partners, since four years.
She also held various positions in the organization for 15 years. She discovered YRDP in 2005 as a participant in a youth forum and training course on Personal Development.
Since then, Ramy has been empowering young people and encouraging them to exercise their civil and political rights as citizens in democratic society. She believes that youths’ voices matter and can influence the decisions of policymakers.
Ramy will be visiting communities in all four provinces of Atlantic Canada from March 16 to 27, 2023.
