Reporting to the Director of the Department, the Communications and Public Relations Advisor carries out a variety of communications activities that meet the needs of the organization as a whole and those of its various departments.

  1. Promote Development and Peace in the media to various audiences and respond to requests for information;
  2. Promote the organization’s activities and programs by actively participating in the launch and execution of special campaigns and activities (e.g. Share Lent, Fall Campaign, Emergency Relief, Orientation Assembly, etc.)
  3. Contribute to the organization’s brand image and marketing positioning;
  4. Assist the Director of the Department in the development and implementation of internal and external communications programs;
  5. Prepare and develop audio-visual, print and website materials for internal and external audiences;
  6. Act, when required by the Director, as a spokesperson for the organization;
  7. Ensure the flow and exchange of information between the communications department and other departments of the organization;
  8. Participate in the development and execution of the Department’s work plan;
  9. Participate in meetings with other departments as required;
  10. Promotes teamwork and sharing of department resources to accomplish department activities.


Academic background
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or the equivalent
• Excellent command of written and spoken French
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Spanish (asset)
• Ability to write, to revise and correct texts
Software and computer programs
• Mastery of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Four years of relevant experience in communications and coordinating events. Experience in fundraising (asset)
Specific knowledge
• Good knowledge of the media and cultural realities
• Very good listening and interpersonal communications skills
• Available to travel in Canada and abroad
• Available for occasional evening and weekend work
