On June 4th, Development and Peace, in solidarity with 500 other organizations, participated in the Black Out Speak Out campaign in opposition to Bill C-38 which threatens Canada’s environment and democracy.
As part of the campaign, we blacked out our website for an entire day, changed the profile picture on our Facebook account and tweeted at #BLACKOUTSPEAKOUT.
We would like to thank all those who supported this campaign. As a result, more than 32,000 e-mails were sent to Members of Parliament across the country.
The struggle, however, is not over. As long as the environment and our voices are threatened, we must continue to be heard.
Our efforts have only begun!
It is not too late to add your name to the Black Out Speak Out petition on their website, which now counts over 40,000 names.
In recognition of all those who supported the campaign, Speak Out Black Out sent out this message of thanks:
