A life-changing decision at a retreat… once again!

A life-changing decision at a retreat… once again! It was at a retreat many years ago that Dr. Joachim Ostermann first felt the call from God. He subsequently left his career in the world of biotechnology and last year joined the Franciscans. In his new life with the Franciscans he “came to share in Francis’ vision how the meaning of human life is in following Christ in poverty and humility,” and he chose to share his materiel wealth with the most poor of vulnerable of this world through Development and Peace and its mission to building a world where all share in God’s gifts equally.

It was at another retreat that he experienced another turning point and decided to enter the priesthood. It became a reality last Friday, June 27, when he was ordained to the priesthood by the Most Reverend Richard Smith, Archbishop of Edmonton, at St. Joseph’s Basilica in Edmonton, Alberta.

We, at DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE, rejoice in this news and want to highlight this time of celebration and thanksgiving.

Thank you once again, Father Joachim!
